Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a
day of love and affection towards the people you care about the most. We go out
of our way to treat everybody extra special, to show him or her how important
they are to us. Sometimes when you’ve been in a relationship for a while you
are comfortable with this person to the point where you can joke around with
them. As I’ve said in the past, Valentine’s Day is an over-produced holiday
where people think they HAVE to do everything in their power to keep their
significant other happy or else it is over. People need to lighten up and
understand that being in a relationship is an around the clock commitment and
one holiday isn’t going to change that.
I’ve seen a lot of people get
creative on Valentine’s Day but Brad Holmes took it to a new level. I think he
showed why Valentine’s Day is over-produced and that if you really love someone
then your relationship should have some humor in it. Brad had a prank planned
where he was going to get down on a knee and propose to his girlfriend Jenny. Usually
when you hear prank and propose in the same sentence it is going to end very
poorly for the guy. So Brad sets up a hidden video camera in front of Jenny who
is watching television in her pajamas (which seemed weird already) and he
flashed a white box in front of the camera. When I watched the video and saw
the box I already thought this had to be some kind of joke because i didn’t look
like the kind of box you put a real engagement ring into. I wonder if this was
done as a publicity stunt, or if it was a real prank because it seemed like
everything was staged and well thought out. Not even thinking of the
consequences Brad turned off the TV and gets down on one knee and pretends to
act nervous in front of girlfriend Jenny. You could tell Jenny was very
confused by this, or was that part of the act also? Jenny all of a sudden asks,
“What are you doing?” and Brad was trying to say the proposal but was failing
miserably. This is where Brad is trying to hold it together when he says, “You know you make me the
happiest man in the world yeah…I know we ain’t been together that long…I love
you to bits, you know that don’t you, yeah? I want you to make me the happiest
man in the world, right?” I have to give Brad a lot of credit because he made
the moment feel real and he managed to get Jenny to the point where she was
close to crying and she even says, “I’m going to cry”. One little wrinkle that
many people didn’t know was Brad and Jenny have been dating for SIX MONTHS!!!!
Now that everything is out there you’re probably wondering what happened when
he proposed right???? So he pulls out that white box he showed to the camera
earlier and started giggling, which absolutely showed that he was doing this
for publicity not just a loving prank on Valentine’s Day. He opens the box and
inside is a teabag and he asked, “Will you make me a cup of tea?” I laughed for
a few minutes after watching that moment on video and then Jenny threw the box
on the floor and stormed out the door with a bunch of profanities towards Brad.
This was a classic Valentine’s Day prank and proves you shouldn’t have to do
anything different out of the ordinary to show your love to somebody.
In the end, I thought this was great because Jenny was
thinking like most other girls do when Valentine’s Day comes around every year…
they expect to be treated like a princess. I think it is very important to have
humor in a relationship, or else it is going to be a bust. I also think Jenny
was acting melodramatic for the camera because they wanted to get a lot of
people to watch the clip. That proved to come true as the video has been seen
11 million times on Facebook. I give this guy credit because he pulled a prank
on the most romantic day of the year and that is a tough task to do. Everybody
learn from this, Valentine’s Day is just another day like the other 364 days in
a year. Love your significant others everyday. I give credit to Jasmine Jones
who wrote this story because it proves that Valentine’s Day is over-produced
and over advertised and sometimes you just have to show how much you love somebody
even if it is through a hilarious prank!!!
